In 2008, Tom Offermann and Michele Reeves left their comfortable life in Portland, Oregon and spent 14 months on sabbatical in Argentina with their two children Zoe and Zelda, ages “young enough not to hate us for taking them away from their friends” and “old enough to be able to travel internationally.” The trip had a huge impact on us all, and as a result, are trying to implement changes to our life now that we have returned to Portland — new work, new schools, new place to live, no car, living smaller, enjoying life more.
